The house of the Salève, 2 km from the hotel, tells the story of the people, their history, the activities and the geology of this pre-alp mountain adored by the local population.
Take the time to explore the green valleys where the various ‘AOC’ cheeses are made – Abondance, Reblochon, Beaufort. A must is of course a visit of the mythical Chamonix where you can take the old train up to the legendary ‘La Mer de Glace’, one of the glaciers of the Mont Blanc. In good weather take one of the highest cable cars in the world up to the ‘Aiguille du Midi’ to admire the highest mountain of Europe in a close up.
Take a walk on the ‘high plateau of Glières’, visit the abbey of Hautecombe or the impressive gorges the river Fier is floating through near Annecy.
Only 25km from the hotel the old town of Annecy welcomes you to its small cobble paved streets along the canals with many restaurants and cafés. Walk along the park along the lake or take a boat and enjoy the wonderful view onto the Alps. Events like the ‘Venetian Carnival’, the ‘Fête du Lac’ in August or the ‘Retour des Alpages’ in October (the return of the cows from the mountain pastures) are extra highlights in the year.
